As you may remember, we relaunched the World Pulse site at the beginning of the year, and the new WorldPulse.com has already received a Platinum AVA Digital Award for digital excellence. Now we’re excited to include a Silver Best in Biz Award for Website of the Year and a Silver Stevie International Business Award for Non-Profit Organization Website to the trophy collection.
World Pulse is a social media enterprise that has created a powerful online community of women and allies from 190 countries speaking out and building solutions to today’s biggest challenges. Here’s what’s been happening at World Pulse this year:
New COO joins to lead World Pulse’s global expansion
In June, World Pulse welcomed its newest executive leader, Chief Operating Officer Ann Forsthoefel. Ann has assumed leadership of internal operations and World Pulse’s strategy to scale its network to 10 million women leaders around the world. Growth is in Ann’s wheelhouse: most recently, at AirBnB, Ann played a role in the company’s tenfold expansion; prior to that she led the Portland Farmer’s Market to double in size and be recognized as one of the top ten markets in the world. Ann has a Master’s degree in sustainable leadership, is deeply dedicated to women’s empowerment, social enterprise, and food systems, and is renowned for her team building abilities.
World Pulse continues to empower women through internet accessibility
World Pulse was recently elected to a two-year civil society seat on the Alliance for Affordable Internet’s Advisory Council. The council provides oversight, strategic direction, and high-level decision making for the Alliance, which is a coalition of private sector, public sector, and civil society organizations that works to advance affordable access to both mobile and fixed-line Internet in developing countries. With this seat, World Pulse will influence important decisions about Internet accessibility around the world and ensure the significance that women’s digital empowerment plays in addressing these issues.
