Back in his teenage years, Uri was first exposed to coding when he decided he wanted to build a Geocities website to share his artwork with the world. However, it wasn’t until much later, in 2015, after years of working for nonprofits primarily in the Medicaid and Medicare space, that he decided to return to school to get the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a path that would better allow him to use his talents and passions. Going back to school while working full-time, and caring for his young children wasn’t easy, but he persisted. In 2018, he celebrated earning his first full-time position in the world of the web.
Uri is intrinsically motivated and excited by creating new tools and services that help people and make the world a better place. With that end in mind, his current focus is on deepening his knowledge and experience in backend development, especially as it relates to Drupal and object-oriented programming. Like most developers, he loves a good puzzle and the creative problem-solving opportunities that working in the field often presents.
The anime themed T-shirts Uri often sports makes it obvious to anyone who meets him that he’s a pretty big (self-proclaimed) geek. He does his best to stay physically active by regularly hitting the gym, learning Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and going for long runs, but keeps things balanced by regularly indulging his love for sci-fi and fantasy (he’s a relatively new Harry Potter fan).
